Latin American Storytelling

  • Culture | Latin America
  • Format | Workshop, School Assembly, Cultural Field Trip, After School Program, Community Event
  • Discipline | Storytelling, Literary Arts
  • Level | All Ages, Pre-K to Grade 2, Grades 3 to 5, Grades 6 to 8, Grades 9 to 12

This interactive teaching style promotes an appreciation of Latin American life—particularly of elements connecting people to the earth and its creatures—within diverse communities. Teaching artists illuminate the universal themes and social values in the stories that motivate students in their pursuit of a meaningful life. In a visual and auditory experience, our story teller employs voice, movement, facial expression, and hand gesture to communicate. Students are fascinated to learn the Latin American origins of many common English words.
