Teaching artists create a framework for studying art by guiding careful observation that reveals insights into pre-colonial, colonial, and more recent Latin American society. Students use imagination, observational skills, and discussion to better understand unfamiliar art. In a two-workshop series students create a hands-on art project. Schools may also elect to take an artist-guided tour of a New York City museum, allowing students first-hand experience with Latin American art and artifacts.
