Safety Measures at Symphony Space

The health and safety of all are our top priorities. Symphony Space requires that all staff, artists, and patrons be fully vaccinated (and provide proof), and that everyone (except performers on stage) wear masks while in the building.

Indigenous and Folk Dances of Mexico

Teaching artists offer insight into the regional cultures of Mexico, the significance and symbolism of traditional costuming, the choreography, the dances’ narratives, and the relationship of the movement to the music. Students study traditional dances and then collaboratively structure movement to the music.

Education Artists Ballet Fiesta Mexicana Yloy Ybarra

Ballet Fiesta Mexicana, under the direction of Yloy Ybarra, teaches traditional dances and the folklore of Mexico through dance, music, and storytelling. As an educator, Yloy has worked for 25 years in the New York City public schools with numerous organizations and companies including Young Audiences New York, Symphony Space’s Global Arts program, Lotus Music and Dance, Community Works, and Arts Connection, bringing dance to thousands of children every year.
