Symphony Space invited choreographers Gina Gibney and David Parker to share and weave together an evening of dances. In juxtaposing two different aesthetic worlds, yet collaborating on a similar theme and with the same composer, the two choreographers will enrich and enliven each other through the process of learning from their differences and creating connecting spaces.

This year's championship also hosts an amateur division. The USPDF accepted 6 competitors from all over the US, and the winner will be rewarded with a USPDF pro-status. The competitors perform two rounds judged by 3 judges. All judges have extensive backgrounds in professional dance and choreography, aerialist performance, fitness, and gymnastics.

Come witness pole dancing as a competitive sport! Twelve of the best pole dancers in the US will show off acrobatic skills, and dance moves on 12 ft poles. The most well-known and resilient ballet adaptation of Don Quixote is that of Russian choreographer, Marius Petipa, that first premiered in 1869. Alexander Gorsky revitalized the work in a 1902 performance including the famous Anna Pavlova, who danced the role of the street dancer and eventually was responsible for bringing the piece to the West in 1924. The ballet became a staple of the Moscow Bolshoi Ballet and Leningrad Kirov Ballet's repertoire and was regularly modified as it was restaged.

Colombia's Cimarrón ensemble is composed of masters of the joropo llanero tradition - festive and joyous dance music that is practiced along the cattle-rearing plains shared by Colombia and Venezuela. This irresistible music is performed on harp, the mandolin-like bandola, cuatro (small guitar), bass, cajon (large wooden box) and maracas backed by high pitched vocals.
