Join us as Pulitzer Prize-winning author Elizabeth Strout shares about her earlier life before being published at age 43—working in a shoe factory, playing piano in cocktail bars, going to law school—and writing (since she was four years old) while few people in her life knew she was building a body of work. This heartfelt evening is a celebration of late bloomers, creative persistence, and the invisible paths that lead us home.

“It was as if we were twelve people lucky to be seated next to the most interesting (by far) guest at a dinner party.” —Lenore, Salon attendee

"The Salon Series provides a rare opportunity to become immersed in the creative process. It was a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable experience! —Michael, Salon attendee
