The Glass Farm Ensemble presents Tankas, an evening with music by Spanish composer Blai Soler, the Swiss David Philip Hefti, the American John Morton, and the Russian Alfred Schnittke.
Tankas (US premiere) is also the title of Blai Soler's piano trio composed in 2009/11. Tankas refers to a traditional form of lyric poetry, which has been composed in Japan for over 1300 years.
David Philip Hefti's Interaktionen (US premiere) for violin, viola, cello and piano was the winner of the Pablo Casals competition in 2011.
John Morton wrote Pandemonia (World premiere) for string quartet and live electronics. John Morton will perform with the quartet on electronics and music boxes.
The oldest, but still surprisingly fresh-sounding, work on the program is Alfred Schnittke's Piano Quintet, from 1976.
