Throughout the season you sent in story suggestions, and you voted online for the most beloved tales. The evening will include the two stories that the national radio audience chose by voting online.
The winners are:
"The Life You Save May Be Your Own" by Flannery O'Connor performed by Lois Smith
"La Conchita" by T.C. Boyle performed by Isaiah Sheffer
The evening's performance will also include a reading of "An Amateur's Guide to the Night" by Mary Robison (the 2009 REA Award for the Short Story winner) performed by Patricia Kalember.
The Rea Award for the Short Story is given annually to a writer who has made a significant contribution to the discipline of the short story form. The $30,000 award is the most generous exclusively for short story writing. Three distinguished writers are appointed by the Dungannon Foundation The Rea Award's sponsor to select the winner. This years jurors are Andrea Barrett, Amy Hempel and Jayne Anne Phillips.
