Event Program
THU, DECEMBER 15 | 8pm
FRI, DECEMBER 16 | 8pm
SAT, DECEMBER 17 | 8pm
Please be sure to fill out your song request form (one submission only, please) at the back of the theater, and drop the form in one of the containers located on the sides of the stage.
All songs in this evening’s concert will be picked from these requests, and will be unknown to all (including Thompson) until the moment they're presented to him onstage.
Named by Rolling Stone as one of the top 20 guitarists of all time, Richard Thompson was co-founder of the ground-breaking Fairport Convention, which virtually invented British folk rock in the 1960’s. Powered by evocative songcraft, jaw-dropping guitar playing, and indefinable spirit, Richard Thompson holds a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association in Nashville and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the BBC Awards, among his many accolades. Thompson’s influence can’t be overstated. Everybody from Robert Plant, Don Henley, and Elvis Costello to REM, Sleater-Kinney and David Byrne has covered his music. His style has had a seismic impact on both American and U.K. folk and rock, incorporating elements of traditional music in a way that makes him a living legend.
