"Thalia and Her Sisters" a new concert series to be held in the informal and fun space of Bar Thalia, will consist entirely of music by women composers, on the first Sunday evening of every month. Curator Ron Wasserman has invited several world class performer/composers to join him in exploring strong female compositional voices from classical, jazz, music theater, as well as more experimental genres.
December 2nd at 7pm. "And She" Music by and performed by violist/vocalist Jessica Meyer.
Meyer creates a new solo show, taking the vivid poetry of four acclaimed, living women poets to create a visceral multimedia experience that explores two things that everyone experiences at least once in their life – falling in and out of love/lust and the death of a parent. The centerpiece will be “Luminous Prison”, written on site at the TANK in Colorado about the impending death of her father. Using a loop pedal to create a virtuosic orchestral experience with her viola, voice, and hand percussion, her first solo show – “Sounds of Being” - has been featured at iconic venues such as BAMcafé and Joe’s Pub in NYC, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, and in Paris at Sunset Sunside.www.jessicameyermusic.com
