Selected Shorts Goes to the Movies with the Tribeca Festival

Masks are encouraged and appreciated, but not mandatory for this event.

For as long as there have been moving pictures, there have been thrilling adaptations of great literary works. Selected Shorts partners with the Tribeca Festival to celebrate the eternal romance between page and screen with an evening of spellbinding short fiction that has been catnip to screenwriters, along with tales that bring to life our passion for showbiz. Hosted by Roxane Gay (Difficult Women, World of Wakanda), with performances by Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy), Andrea Martin (Evil), Michael Stuhlbarg (Your Honor), and Pauletta Washington (Reasonable Doubt).

*Due to illness, Kyra Sedgwick is no longer able to appear at this event.

The Tribeca Festival brings artists and diverse audiences together to celebrate storytelling in all its forms, including film, TV, music, audio storytelling, games, and immersive. With strong roots in independent film, Tribeca is synonymous with creative expression and entertainment. Tribeca champions emerging and established voices, discovers award-winning talent, curates innovative experiences, and introduces new ideas through exclusive premieres, exhibitions, conversations, and live performances. The annual Tribeca Festival will celebrate its 22nd year from June 7–18, 2023 in New York City. Follow @TribecaAudio for more

Selected Shorts is produced by Symphony Space and broadcast on more than 130 stations around the country. The series began in 1985 and enjoys sold-out performances to this day. Selected Shorts was conceived with a simple premise: take great stories by well-known and emerging writers and have them performed by terrific actors of stage and screen. Featuring stories around a lively theme, the favorite works of a guest author, or a special collaboration, each Selected Shorts event is a unique night of literature in performance.

Real-time captioning (CART) will be available in our theater for patrons with hearing loss, deafness, different language and learning needs, and anyone whose experience will be enhanced by CART. To access CART on your individual smartphone or tablet, please visit
