For 6 years, the NYCMC have brought the best of mariachi to NYC and June 2018 is no exception. Every year, The New York City Mariachi Conservatory concludes its conference with a small concert/recital to give mariachi music a forum for artistic expression and a way to celebrate this rich musical tradition that so many have come to enjoy. An important element of The New York City Mariachi Conservatory Conference is the recognition of significant contributions to the mariachi music tradition.
Each year, an individual is honored and recognized during the conference in an effort to promote historical awareness of mariachi music. This homage brings overdue recognition to both the history of mariachi and its contributors. The NYCMC provides individuals with an opportunity to show support and respect for the pioneers and legends responsible for preserving mariachi music enjoyed by millions of fans around the world.
Today, "La Leyenda" Leo Dan along with his music and compositions are enjoyed across the world.
