Dom Flemons and special guest, Andy Hedges, pay tribute to the music, culture, and history of the Old West, including music from Flemons’ seminal Smithsonian Folkways release Black Cowboys, which follows the footsteps of the thousands of African American pioneers who helped build the United States of America. Flemons and Hedges will both play a set, followed by an illuminating conversation between the artists, and a short collaborative performance.

The son of an Italian schoolteacher and a rodeo cowboy turned preacher, Andy grew up in the small community of Tokio, Texas, where his family paid rent on an old farmhouse by looking after a few head of cattle.
