Originally from San Jose, California, saxophonist David Yee studied music at the University of Portland in Oregon. Since moving to NYC in 2015 he has performed with various jazz, rock, pop, funk, and R&B artists as well as his own groups at venues including B.B. Kings, The Bitter End, Silvana, The Shrine, The David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, Ginny's Supper Club, Gin Fizz, Paris Blues, American Trash, The Branded Saloon, Rockwood Music Hall, Groove, Caffe Vivaldi, Arlene's Grocery, Columbia University, The Exit Zero Jazz Festival in Cape May, NJ, Alder Manor (W.B. Thompson Mansion), Brooklyn Bazaar, The Montauk Club, Blue Water Grill, Club Macanudo, 287 Gallery, DROM, Mercury Lounge, Bushwick Public House, and The Louis Armstrong House.
He holds a Saturday night residency at Morningside Heights soul food restaurant Miss Mamie's Spoonbread Too, hosting a house band performance followed by an open jam session. Tonight, along with NYC based pianist Shingo Kano, he will be performing a varied repertoire of Great American Songbook classics, bossa nova, bebop, ballads, and blues.
