Saxophonist David Yee and pianist Shingo Kano host tonight's jazz session at Bar Thalia.
Originally from San Jose, California, David studied music at the University of Portland in Oregon. Since moving to NYC in 2015 he has performed with various jazz, rock, pop, funk, and R&B artists as well as his own groups at venues including B.B. Kings, The Bitter End, Silvana, Shrine, The David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, Ginny's Supper Club, Gin Fizz, Rockwood Music Hall, Groove, Caffe Vivaldi, Arlene's Grocery, Columbia University, The Exit Zero Jazz Festival in Cape May, NJ, Brooklyn Bazaar, The Montauk Club, DROM, Club Macanudo, Mercury Lounge, and The Louis Armstrong House.
Born in Osaka, Japan, Shingo Kano began studying classical piano at age 6. He studied jazz piano at Osaka University of Arts and has performed and participated in workshops across Japan and NY, including The Juilliard School. In 2013 he won the grand prize at Kobe Next Jazz Competition and moved to NYC in 2016.
Tonight David and Shingo will perform one set of music and then invite other vocalists and instrumentalists to sit in and perform with them. Please come and join in this wonderful night of music!
