Our Global Arts Cultural Residencies focus on the history and cultures your students are learning about right now. Through a series of 5-7 hands-on workshops, Symphony Space’s expert Teaching Artists teach your classes about the storytelling, music, dance, and visual art of your chosen global region.

By learning songs, dances, visual art traditions, and the stories behind them, students learn to interpret and analyze cultural art forms, and how they’ve been kept alive through centuries. They apply what they’ve learned by conceptualizing, developing, and refining their own dances, music, stories, theater pieces, or visual art inspired by what they’ve learned.

A field trip to Symphony Space is included in most packages, in which students may attend a fully-produced, interactive performance of the music, dance, and storytelling of the selected culture. Teachers may select students to join performing artists onstage to show off their new skills in our Manhattan-based theater.

Whether you’re looking to supplement your in-school arts programming or bring arts-integration to your STEM classrooms, we'll work with you to customize the Global Arts experience that is right for your school or learning community.
