Actors' Equity Association's National Equal Employment Opportunity Committee presents My Whitelist Cabaret.

There are so many "miscast" cabarets where female actors sing Billy Bigelow and male actors sing Elphaba. This will be a new type of miscast cabaret, one that will bring awareness to the overwhelming number of "dream roles" that are still out of reach for actors of color. When asked their dream roles, many actors of color must first clarify whether the roles in question are realistic possibilities in their careers or whether the roles can include their "whitelists." My Whitelist Cabaret will educate performers to the reality faced by their colleagues of color and help them understand the importance of choosing not to engage in whitewashing the limited number of roles written for actors of color. And ideally, My Whitelist Cabaret might also help producers to see that some of the roles on artists' whitelists don't necessarily need to be portrayed by white actors after all.
