‘Impossibly fast handwork which once again brought the crowd to its feet'
The brothers Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan are world-renowned seventh-generation sarod (a 19-stringed Indian lute) virtuosi, part of a musical lineage that includes their father - the legendary Indian classical musician Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. The brothers' dazzling technique enables them to flow effortlessly between the sarod's sweet melodic tones and explosive rhythmic dynamism. Having performed at all major concert venues all over the world, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, London's Barbican Centre, Vienna's Konzerthaus and the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and having collaborated with major symphony orchestras such as the London Philharmonia, as well as with prominent stars of folk and rock music, these sarod superstars chart new musical paths and share the sublime sound of the sarod with audiences around the globe.
The New York Chamber Music Festival, Music For Life International and the Indo-American Arts Council are proud to present this fabulous performance, which includes internationally renowned New York violinist Elmira Darvarova (former Concertmaster, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra) and acclaimed Tabla virtuoso Salar Nader.
