Vocalist Maria Guida:
Maria Guida is both a singer and actress. She has been singing in jazz venues in and around New York City for over 20 years, working with many instrumentalists, including James Weidman, Mark Soskin, Dean Johnson, Harvie S, Ron Horton, Tony Moreno, and Jeff Hirshfield. As an actress, Maria has appeared on Broadway, TV, and film, working with Paul Newman, James Earl Jones, and Kevin Kline. She has also played Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen, and many leading roles in the plays of Tennessee Williams. A graduate of the Grad Acting Program at NYU Tisch, Maria acts in and produces a play at Studio Tisch every summer. She is also a professional speaker and speech coach to Fortune 500 company executives. Maria gratefully dedicates this performance to her jazz mentors Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton.
Guitarist Jack Wilkins:
Guitarist Jack Wilkins has been on the international jazz scene since the early 1970’s. His flawless technique and imaginative chordal approach have inspired collaborations with Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, and Buddy Rich, among many others. Wilkins teaches at The New School, The Manhattan School of Music, and LIU. He was invited to judge the Monk Institute Guitar Competitions in Washington. He also conducts seminars on the “Great American Songbook” and guitar clinics in New York and abroad. Jack has recorded many albums as a leader, played international festivals with jazz greats Stanley Turrentine, Jimmy Heath, Red Rodney, and Ira Sullivan and has also played/recorded with Mel Torme, Ray Charles, Morgana King, Sammy Davis Jr., Tony Bennett, Cassandra Wilson, and Jay Clayton.
