Valentina Kozlova, former Principal Dancer at the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet, founded VKIBC. In its eighth addition, this competition is dedicated to creating a positive atmosphere, allowing dancers the opportunity to further develop their technique, artistry and understanding of the art of dance.
The competition is held over four days, culminating in a Gala event on the fifth day, presenting winners as well as guest artists. Patrons may purchase an access pass for each day, Monday - Thursday. There will be multiple breaks during the day as the competition is held all afternoon.
Senior dancers must present two compulsory pieces, one classical and one contemporary as part of the total requirement of seven performances in the Classical division. Other younger divisions include Youth, Student and Junior. Contemporary division may enter with two solo pieces, duet or as a group. Choreographers may present any number of pieces. Prizes awarded assist young dancers to further their pre-professional training and assist them to achieve professional goals.
