Safety Measures at Symphony Space

We are thrilled to be welcoming you to Symphony Space!

The health and safety of all are our top priorities. Symphony Space requires that all staff, artists, and patrons be fully vaccinated (and provide proof), and that everyone (except performers on stage) wear masks while in the building.

Please be advised that certain events may have additional Covid-19 requirements, which can be found on the event page on our website.

Semester-long Global Arts Program

  • Culture | Africa, Asia, Latin America, Native American, Cross Culture, American History
  • Format | Workshop, Cultural Field Trip
  • Discipline | Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Theatre, Storytelling, Literary Arts
  • Level | Grades 3 to 5, Grades 6 to 8, Grades 9 to 12

Each class receives 5–7 hands-on workshops—led by Symphony Space’s professional Teaching Artists—focused on storytelling, the music, the dance, and the visual art of the selected culture. Included in this package are two field trips: a guided, interactive tour of a New York City museum and a fully-produced, interactive performance of the music, dance, and storytelling of the selected culture at Symphony Space.

Students learn songs and dances and create original artwork and writing that pertain to the curriculum and that demonstrate the enduring cultural relevance of art. Artists facilitate inquiry-based discussions about the artworks to encourage focused observation and critical listening that enrich students’ imaginations, curiosity, and empathy. Teachers select students to join performing artists on stage at Symphony Space.
