A dynamic storyteller shares folk tales gathered from the oral tradition to world travels. Students experience the delight and humor, as well as the depth and subtexts of stories from around the world. They participate in the stories playing character roles and adding sound effects. The teaching artist promotes discussions that facilitate analysis and interpretation of the stories.

Bobby Gonzalez

Bobby Gonzalez, is a nationally-acclaimed multicultural motivational speaker, storyteller, and poet born and raised in the South Bronx. He draws on both his Native American (Taino) and Latino (Puerto Rican) roots to offer a unique repertoire that celebrates his dual heritage. The author of “The Last Puerto Rican Indian: a Collection of Dangerous Poetry” and “TAINO ZEN”, his poetry has been published in numerous periodicals and performed at institutions.

Tammy Hall

Tammy Hall is a storyteller, visual artist and advocate for literacy who has travelled across Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and Central America collecting folklore from the rich oral traditions of many cultures. A former New York City school teacher, Tammy leads storytelling, writing workshops and visual arts residencies in New York City and across the country. A native of Clarksville, Tennessee, she draws on her African-American southern rural heritage to deliver remarkable tales at schools, churches, and cultural institutions.
