Accessibility

Symphony Space is dedicated to providing all of our patrons with an engaging experience and a comfortable environment. We hope you find the following information helpful. Please reach out to us with any questions you may have about visiting our theater.

  • The main entrance to Symphony Space is located on the southwest corner of Broadway and 95th St. If you are traveling to the theater via Access-A-Ride, or being dropped off, please inform your driver that the address of the Sharp Theater is 2537 Broadway. If you are attending an event in the Thalia Theater, the address is 250 West 95th Street.

  • Both Symphony Space entrances are wheelchair accessible.

  • The elevator serves all levels of Symphony Space. Seating in the west balcony of the Sharp Theater is accessible via elevator. The east balcony is only accessible via staircase. All Wheelchair accessible seating is located on the Orchestra level (1st floor) of the Sharp Theater.

  • Assistive listening devices are available free of charge. Please check with an usher upon arrival.

  • Wheelchair-accessible seating and ramps are available in both the Thalia and Sharp Theaters. Ushers are available for additional assistance.

  • Live captioning (CART) is available for all Selected Shorts performances at Symphony Space. Live captioned events are designated by the “CART” symbol on the Symphony Space calendar.

  • Restrooms with accessible features are located inside the Sharp Theater and on the Thalia level.

  • Water fountains are located near the concession stand through the main doors on the west side of the Sharp Theater and near the restrooms on the Thalia level.

  • Service animals are gladly accommodated. If you plan to bring your service animal, please notify our box office beforehand.

Assistive Listening

Upon request, we offer complimentary hearing devices that can be used in any seat during any performance in the Sharp or Thalia Theaters. Personal headphones can be used for assistive listening devices in the Sharp Theater only. To request an assistive listening device, check with an usher upon arrival. Box Office staff and ushers can help direct you. Please have a valid form of identification on hand (eg. Driver's License, student ID, etc.).

We do not currently use hearing loop technology.

*Please note that our listening devices are not bluetooth compatible.

Sign Language Interpretation

Symphony Space welcomes requests for sign language interpretation. Requests for sign language interpretation must be received at least four weeks prior to the event date. Please email all requests to [email protected].

*Please note that we aim to honor all requests, but cannot guarantee the availability of an interpreter.

Live Captioning

Symphony Space offers Communications Access Realtime Translation (CART) for all performances of Selected Shorts. Patrons may request CART for any live performance or event produced by Symphony Space, and must submit requests to [email protected] at least four weeks in advance of the event they plan to attend.
