First year of unique affiliation earned 2007 Arts
& Business Council of New York Encore Award
For
the 2007/2008 season, Symphony Space and Zabar’s continue their
partnership that earned an Arts & Business Council of New York Encore
Award in 2007. The esteemed prize recognizes outstanding collaborations
between cultural and business institutions. Sharing the company of past
honorees including Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Target, Symphony Space and Zabar’s synergy has translated into national success. Their respective
leadership in the community has also helped to establish the Upper West Fest
(sponsored by Zabar’s and organized by Symphony Space) as one of New York’s most exciting
annual cultural events.
In
2006, the two iconic Upper West Side
institutions joined together in an innovative collaboration
in order to leverage brand strength and build good will in the community. The unique
partnership—between one of New York’s most
renowned cultural institutions and one of the City’s
most celebrated local businesses—has been a highly successful one. Both organizations
are firmly rooted in the community—Symphony Space for 30 years and Zabar’s for
more than 70. Both are committed to reaching out nationally to build audiences
and customers, providing them with the best in their respective fields. The
partnership is nationally recognized in 150 public radio markets thanks to the
broadcast of Symphony Space’s signature literature in performance event, Selected
Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story.
