Thalia Kids' Book Club: Jon Scieszka's Robot Zot!
The always engaging and hilarious author of the hit series The Time Warp Trio and the modern classic The Stinky Cheese Man, who is also the first national Ambassador for Children's Literature, talks about his latest book with Lisa Von Drasek (Children's Librarian at the Bank Street School for Children). Ages 6 and up. The event includes a discussion with the audience, a creative writing project, and a book signing.

Jon Scieszka and Lisa Von Drasek
Lisa Von Drasek is the Children's Librarian for the Bank Street College of Education and Bank Street School for Children. She teaches pre-k through 8th grade as well as Children's Literature to graduate students. A member of the National Book Critics Circle, Ms. Von Drasek has reviewed children's books for School Library Journal, The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post Book World, and is a contributor to the Barnes and Noble Review and EarlyWord.com. She has been named a 2007 Mover and Shaker by Library Journal as a leader in the field of librarianship. Ms. Von Drasek has served as a juror on the New York Times Best Illustrated Books issue, the Newbery Committee, American Library Association's Notable Children's Books, and the Bank Street College of Education's Children's Book Committee. If it is during the school day and she isn't in her library, Ms. Von Drasek can be found at the Bank Street Bookstore looking for recommendations for the next great book to read.
Jon Scieszka is the author of many books for children including The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, The Time Warp Trio series, the Caldecott Honor Book The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, Science Verse, Squids Will Be Squids, Robot Zot! and Math Curse, an American Library Association Notable book and winner of the 1995 Publisher's Weekly Best Children's Book. In addition to being a prolific author, Mr. Scieszka is also the founder of Guys Read, a nonprofit literacy program for boys and men. He is also the creator of the New York Times bestselling series Trucktown which includes numerous books by several well known children's book authors and illustrators. He was the first National Ambassador for Young People's Literature from 2007-2009.
