Matthew Cody’s first novel, the superhero mystery Powerless, has been nominated as a Best Book for Young Adults 2010 by the American Library Association and was chosen as a New Voices Pick by the Association of Booksellers for Children. Sonia Manzano is known to millions of children and parents through her role as Maria on Sesame Street, a character she has played since 1971. Her theatre credits include The Vagina Monologues, The Exonerated and the original production of Godspell. She has won fifteen Emmy Awards as a writer for Sesame Street, received the 2003 Hispanic Heritage Award, and in 2005 was awarded an honorary doctorate in fine arts from Notre Dame University. Closer to home, she is proud to have been inducted into the Bronx Hall of Fame. She has written for the Peabody Award-winning Nickelodeon series Little Bill, is the author of the picture books No Dogs Allowed! and A Box Full of Kittens. No Dogs Allowed! has been turned into a musical. She is currently working on a memoir.
Rick Riordan is the author of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and also helped develop Scholastic’s 39 Clues series, penning the first volume, The Maze of Bones. His current project The Kane Chronicles, of which The Red Pyramid is the premier installment, is a middle-grade fantasy series about ancient Egypt. In addition to being a successful author, he was a school teacher for fifteen years. Riordan’s adult fiction, the Tres Navarre mystery series, won the top three awards in the mystery genre—the Edgar, the Anthony, and the Shamus. He lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife and two sons. His next book, The Lost Hero, a Percy Jackson spinoff, will be published this fall.
