A Conversation with the Audience

Ann M. Martin lives in upstate New York in a town not unlike Camden Falls. She loves to sew and take walks with her dog, Sadie. She also has three cats: Gussie, Woody and Willie. Her acclaimed novels include Belle Teal, A Corner of the Universe (a Newbery Honor Book), Here Today, A Dog’s Life and On Christmas Eve. Ann is also the author of the beloved and bestselling series The Baby-sitters Club. ‘Tis the Season, part three of her Main Street series, was recently published, and parts four, five and six will be released next year.

Ivy Austin was a featured performer on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion on National Public Radio. She starred on Broadway in Raggedy Ann, sang with the New York City Opera for eight years and produced several seasons of musical series at the World Financial Center. She is often heard singing at the 92nd Street Y, The New York Historical Society and The Century. At Symphony Space, Ivy has appeared in Selected Shorts, Bloomsday on Broadway, Manhattan Madcaps and in Wall to Wall celebrations of Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Leonard Bernstein, Richard Rodgers, Joni Mitchell, Kurt Weill and Stephen Sondheim. She is a regular cast member of Symphony Space’s Thalia Follies.

Madeline Cohen has been Symphony Space’s Education Director since 1989. She directs the Curriculum Arts Project (CAP) Program, which gives thousands of students insight into the social studies curriculum through interaction with the arts and artists in the classroom, at museums and at Peter Norton Symphony Space. She co-organizes Symphony Space’s All Write! program for adult literacy students and the What’s the Story? program for high school students, both modeled after Symphony Space’s series, Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story.
