German writer Cornelia Funke debuted in America in 2002 with The Thief Lord, hailed by USA Today as an "exquisitely told tale of adventure and intrigue set in contemporary Venice that can be read, or more accurately devoured, by teenagers and adults." Since then, she has sold more than eight million copies of her books worldwide and was named one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People" in 2005. Cornelia Funke's books have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, People, and Time, among others. The first two books in the Inkheart trilogy, Inkheart and Inkspell, were #1 on The New York Times bestseller list and together spent over 60 weeks on the list. Inkheart has been made into a movie, starring Helen Mirren, which will be released at the end of January. Cornelia Funke lives in Los Angeles with her children.
