This brand new collection, selected by the author, includes thirty works that first appeared in magazines, as well as six unpublished stories. Erdrich is the author of twelve novels, including The New York Times bestseller The Plague of Doves, National Book Award finalist The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse, Tales of Burning Love, and Love Medicine, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction. She is also the author of two collections of poetry, Jacklight and Baptism of Desire; several books for young adults; and a memoir, The Blue Jay's Dance. She has been the recipient of the O'Henry Award, the Pushcart Prize, the Nelson Algren Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and two National Magazine Awards for Fiction. She currently lives in Minnesota with her daughters and is the owner of Birchbark Books, a small independent bookstore.

Her daily reporting and groundbreaking work from Nigeria and East Timor has won numerous awards, including the George Polk Award and the Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Reporting. Goodman is the co-author-with her brother, journalist David Goodman-of three New York Times bestsellers: Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times; Static: Government Liars, Media Cheerleaders, and the People Who Fight Back; and The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them.

Sonia Manzano is known to millions of children and parents through her role as Maria on Sesame Street, a character she has played since 1971.
