Justin Roberts and the Not Ready For Naptime Players

The Performance

The winner of four Parents' Choice Gold awards, Justin Roberts crafts songs that are rich with humor and insight capturing children's everyday lives with songs about temper tantrums, younger siblings, family pets, and more. He has been compared to James Taylor, Elvis Costello, Loudon Wainwright III, and even Green Day - and yet his style and songwriting are truly unique.

"On your feet fun and laugh-out-loud funny."

About the Artists

Justin Roberts is truly one of the "all-stars" of the indie family music scene. He logs thousands of miles on the road each year, leading some to call him the hardest working man in children's show business. With national awards and recognition and a devoted fan base, Justin and his band, The Not Ready for Naptime Players, dish out unexpectedly intelligent and whimsically rocking music for kids and their parents.

Justin began writing songs for kids in the early 90's while working as a Montessori preschool teacher by day and playing with an eclectic folk group by night. In 1997, he moved to Chicago and released his first CD for kids, Great Big Sun. He has now released six CD's for families, traveled all over the United States, performed on the Today show, and had his song "Get Me Some Glasses" featured during the World Series.

Justin's latest CD, Pop Fly, was named one of the best kids' CD's of 2008 by Amazon.com, National Public Radio, and USA Today. It's filled with 11 high-energy pop hits about topics ranging from a dandelion-watching ballplayer to a girl's unusual hairstyle, all in which funky characters of all shapes and sizes take up residence. There are images of permission slips, first days, and grandmother's home cooking. It's yet another Justin Roberts home run filled with witty lyrics, hummable choruses, and touching insights.
