Featuring three of the best performances in Symphony Space's comedy debate series. In this episode, Kurt Braunohler and Myq Kaplan fight, respectively, for Old People and Babies from July 24th, 2012, and Baratunde Thurston speaks in favor of The Future over The Past (with rebuttal by Kurt Metzger) from January 28th, 2013. 

The next Uptown Showdown debate is May 13th, featuring the hilarious David Rees (How to Sharpen Pencils) and Bridey Elliott. Hosted by Adam Goldman (The Outs). 

+ About the Artists

Kurt Braunohler has most recently served as host of IFC's comedy game show Bunk. With Kristen Schaal, he was nominated for the IF Comedy "Best Comedy Show Award" in 2008 for their show Double Down Hearts at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Myq Kaplan has appeared on The Tonight ShowThe Late Show with David LettermanConan, as well as his own half hour special Comedy Central Presents: Myq Kaplan. He was a 2010 Last Comic Standing Finalist and a finalist in Comedy Central's competition Open Mic Fight. Kaplan's CD, Vegan Mind Meld, was one of iTunes' top ten best-selling comedy albums in 2010.

Baratunde Thurston is a politically-active, technology-loving comedian from the future. He co-founded the black political blog, Jack and Jill Politics and served as Director of Digital for The Onion before launching the comedy/technology startup Cultivated Wit. Then-candidate Barack Obama called him "someone I need to know." Baratunde travels the world speaking and advising and performs standup regularly in NYC. His first book, How to Be Black, is a New York Times bestseller.

Kurt Metzger is currently writing for the new television show Inside Amy Schumer, he has also written for television shows such as Chapelle's Show and the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. He provides the voice of Randall Skeffington on Ugly Americans and was a semi-finalist on Last Comic Standingin 2010.

Matthew Love is a Brooklyn-based writer who is currently the Books and Comedy editor at Time Out New York. In addition to Time Out, he's covered books, comedy, theater and New York culture for The Onion AV ClubThe Village Voice and Comedians Magazine.
