This program was recorded 03/19/2005 at Symphony Space.

Assassins, admirals, slaves, delinquents, frogs, even actors -- these are just a few of the characters Stephen Sondheim has given songs to sing. In a career that spans five decades, Sondheim has become the dean of American Musical Theater.

NPR's Susan Stamberg hosts Broadway Baby: Stephen Sondheim at 75 a celebration of the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim -- Elaine Stritch, Neil Patrick Harris, Ivy Austin, Paul Gemignani and the American Theater Orchestra join a dazzle of other performers from Symphony Space's Wall to Wall Sondheim celebration in 2005.
