+ About the Performance
This program was recorded 11/17/2011 at Symphony Space.

Blending Jamaican dub and reggae, American ambient and hip hop, Mexican bolero, and Argentine tango, Argentine singer-songwriter Federico Aubele has a style all his own.

He returns to a smoky realm of acoustic guitar licks, heavy rhythms and sinister dub atmospherics for his fourth studio album, Berlin 13. The record pulls from the personal transformation Aubele experienced in his time living in Berlin and the vibe of a city strongly associated with electronic music.

"Brings nostalgia plus a warm Spanish guitar to his cool electronica." -Los Angeles Times

Hot new boundary-pushing artists sound even better when paired with wines selected by Keith Beavers, dubbed a "wine ambassador who is improving the country's wine culture" by The New York Times. This series, curated by Adam Teeter, brings an eclectic mix of today's emerging indie performers to the stage, and a premium glass of wine to your palate.

+ About the Artists

Federico Aubele was born and raised in Buenos Aires, he started playing music at 12, with his early musical influences coming from his mother, an amateur guitarist and a notary by profession.  After submitting a demo to Thievery Corporation’s Eighteenth Street Lounge Music, he was signed to the label and and made his recording debut in 2003 with a trio of double-sided 10" vinyl releases: Postales, Contigo, and Esta Noche.  The full-length album Gran Hotel Buenos Aires, released in 2004, followed and included each of his previously released songs, along with another half-dozen. In 2006, he played at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. His song “Esta Noche” was featured on the fifth season of the TV show Alias. Aubele moved to Barcelona where he began working on his next album, Panamericana, which was released on September 18, 2007.  This was followed by the release of Amatoria in 2009, and Berlin 13 in 2011, which featured guest appearances from Jesse Harris, Karina Zeviani, Natalia Clavier, and Mauro Refosco.
