Wall to Wall Bach

The Performance

People line up around the block all day for admission to this popular free marathon concert, which The New York Times calls “Symphony Space’s annual gift to New York.” Wall to Wall events since 1978 have celebrated an amazing range of music, but for or our 30th anniversary Wall to Wall on May 17, 2008, we went back to Bach, reprising the event that gave us our start.

Wall to Wall Bach continues a unique 30 year old tradition where leading musicians come to Symphony Space for a day of performances on a theme, usually a composer, sometimes a genre.  Previous Wall to Walls have included John Cage, Stephen Sondheim, Wall to Wall Opera, Stravinsky, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Aaron Copland, Miles Davis, Franz Schubert, Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Kern and Robert Schumann.

Please note that for this recording we have rearranged the order of tracks.
