Pulitzer Prize-winner Oscar Hijuelos’ recently published memoir Thoughts Without Cigarettes was described by the Los Angeles Times as “an essential document of the evolution of American literature” and presents a vibrant portrait of the 1950’s Cuban-American immigrants who inspired his bestselling novels including The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love.
