Wall to Wall Behind the Scenes

By Erin Watts
Published on May 20, 2009

No Broadway hit takes off without some good preview buzz, and we got ours for Wall to Wall Broadway last Thursday at an open rehearsal with 150 of our long-time members and subscribers. I must admit, I’m not always a show tunes kind of girl, but even I got excited for this one!

The orchestra was just finishing their rehearsal, and a line up of soloists were convening in the front of the house to practice their numbers: Jonathan Hadary and Kevin Burdette, Sidney Burgoyne, and my personal favorite, B.D. Wong. He brought the house down with his hilarious piece from The Girl Who Came to Supper (did you see it on Saturday?!).

And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the delicious treats from Whole Foods and my new friends from Fox Run Vineyards and Anthony Road Wine. Just saying, if you put some pinot noir in a little chocolate cup and top it off with whipped cream, it’s amazing. Officially my new party trick.

Check out some pictures from the preview and party after the jump, and watch for more from Wall to Wall soon! Read More »

Rockin’ Out with Ralph’s World

By Erin Watts
Published on May 7, 2009

Don’t you just love when you can break out of your routine? Get out of the office and see a show?

Last Saturday’s performances with Ralph’s World marked the end of the Just Kidding series for this season, and I broke away from this computer to hang out with the kiddies. It was a Just Kidding Club day, and I got to give out goody bags to all the adorable member children.

If you don’t keep up with the pop culture of the shorter set, Ralph is a pretty big rock star. I watched kids line up in awe before and after both shows to take a picture and get an autograph. One kid actually couldn’t move (or blink) once Ralph signed his shirt. The songs got everyone up and dancing in the aisles, there was mosh pit at the edge of the stage (sort of…a little shorter than the usual type), and a massive dance party onstage to close out the shows. Ralph even coerced some parents onstage to make alphabet shapes and do a kick line. I can just see my mom doing high kicks…kidding, mom!

Click through to check out a few pictures from the show. Have a great summer kids, and see you in the fall! Read More »
